Main Cast & Character Bios

The following individuals have been found guilty of dedicating their amazing time and talents to making The Mask of Inanna a reality. All information pertaining to these scoundrels (and the characters they play) is provided below:

Andy Lebrun (Leonard Allen, Dr. Damien Crask) has performed (and continues to perform) in very many theater shows in the Boston area, but The Mask of Inanna has been his first and only studio recording project. He's had a wonderful time working with such a large and talented cast in a long series of (sometimes) short, intense sessions. The atmosphere has been both fun and professional, which is a balance that can sometimes be hard to find. When not acting or getting paid to break software, Andrew makes chainmail jewelry and practices contact juggling.

Leonard "Len" Allen is a smart, industrious, creative producer, a trifle too naïve. Never satisfied without a project to do, his idea of hell is a passive vacation. Very open, catches people's eyes, easy to warm to. Gets very frustrated and angry when situations are out of his control. Howard Zinn, if nobody paid attention to him. He is 28 in flashbacks and 80 in current-day scenes. He plays Dr. Damien Crask, host of the After Dark program, which he has assembled and maintains the business side.

Nellie Farrington (Sara "Scottie" Harper) had an absolute blast in The Mask of Inanna, her first show with PMRP (though she's since been back live as Beryl Stapleton in The Hound of the Baskervilles and performing Foley for The Crasher). Some of her other theatrical adventures have been as Edith in Blithe Spirit (Cannon Theater), Trinculo in The Tempest (Hovey Players) and a whole collection of characters from Goth Hamlet (To Be or Not to Be Her) to Eva Jackson (The Rimers of Eldritch) to a Spotlight (Oh My God, It's Another Play) with Theatre@First. More mundanely (though still theatrically at times), she works as Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

Sara "Scottie" Harper is a willful, isolated 19-year-old girl on the crux of beginning her life. Just graduated high school, going to college in the fall, trapped in her small town in the meantime. Distanced from her peers – had to repeat first grade twice due to her parents moving around so often when she was younger. Theater/shop geek, loves building sets and costuming, doesn't want to admit how much she takes after her father. Tries to think bigger than her home town but frustrated that she can't. Doesn't know what she wants to do for a living after college. Grew up in the Church of Inanna, but has issues with it.

Doug Miller (David Lewis) has performed regularly with PMRP's sister organization, Theatre@First, in such roles as Mr. Bennett in Pride and Prejudice, Vinnie Pliers in the "Brush Up Your Shakespeare" segment of Festival@First: Shaken Up Shakespeare, Antigonus in The Winter's Tale, and Leonato in Much Ado About Nothing. Other community theater experience includes: A Midsummer Night's Dream (Egeus), As You Like It (Jaques), Measure For Measure (Escalus), All's Well That Ends Well (King), Bartholomew Fair (Nightingale); Juno and the Paycock (Joxer), Dracula (Van Helsing), The Second Shepherd's Play (First Shepherd), various one-acts by David Ives (Degas, Phillip Glass). Doug is a Research Affiliate in the Department of Earth Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences at MIT.

David Lewis is a mellow bookseller, late 50's, sweetly depressed, feels all emotion very deeply, but tries to restrain it to be polite to others. Masks his self-consciousness with a knowing "college professor in waiting" attitude. Reluctant High Priest of Inanna (guilted into the role by falling membership in the Church at the time). In the present day, his daughter, Nicolette, is serving in the armed forces in Iraq.

Katherine Bryant (Jessie McAlister) is a veteran of many community theater productions in the Boston area: musical and non-musical, audio drama and more conventional theater. She made her debut with The Post-Meridian Radio Players in "Reynardine," part of Tomes of Terror III (2008) and has participated in four other PMRP live productions: The Big Broadcasts of 1938 and 1946 (2009, 2010), and Summer Radio Theater (2011) and Summer Radio Mystery Theatre (2012). The Mask of Inanna was her first studio production. She thanks Neil and Alicia for inviting her into the show, and all her extraordinary castmates for the final result.

Jessie McAlister is a brash, outspoken 60-year old park ranger. A 1960's radical activist who hasn't lost any of her spark. High Priestess of the Church of Inanna. Has a strong belief in her Church. She is highly manipulative and annoyed at David Lewis for not showing Len "the big picture" regarding After Dark. She has a good head on her shoulders, though, and means well. Tries to reveal as much as she can to Len, while maintaining plausible deniability to David.

Mike Babish (Matt Lerner) is honored to have taken part in this, his first PMRP production. His most recent theatrical work was directing Dracula with Theatre@First in Somerville, MA, which Executive Producer Neil Marsh provided the (exceptional) sound design for, while many of The Mask of Inanna cast provided their on-stage acting talent. Mike has been acting in Boston-area theater for the past decade, including roles with Theatre@First, Arlington Friends of the Drama, and the Concord Players. By day, he helps design an on-line learning platform for medical professionals.

Matt Lerner is a small-town jokester, a complete ham making a living playing "straight man" characters on the radio. Feels restricted by his roles and plays them up for all they're worth. A lush; a man of great passions. Acolyte in the Church of Inanna. He is the announcer and one of the writers for the After Dark program and performs bit parts as well.

Marleigh Norton (Isabel Huddleston) started out in stage productions, but has since switched almost exclusively to voice acting due to a fondness for hobbies one can do in one's jammies. In fact, she was quite flummoxed when The Mask of Inanna turned out to be a show one recorded with the other actors present. The mind boggles! Other favorite PMRP roles include Jean in Three Skeleton Key and Captain Rosany in The Sirens of War, as well as Carla in Red Sands Investigations, and Oracle in Batman: The Ace of Detectives for Pendant Productions. Cheers to the MOI cast and crew. Playing Isabel was a joy, and the one-shot roles were a riot. Let's do it again sometime, shall we?

Isabel Huddleston is an exuberant young 1950's actress without the ambition to leave her home and her horses. She plays most of the lead female roles on After Dark. Also an Acolyte in the Church of Inanna.

James Scheffler (Bob Stroud) has performed with The Post-Meridian Radio Players in numerous live productions of both classic and original radio scripts, including The War of the Worlds: The Mob vs. the Martians and the Fall of Boston (Radio Announcer), The Sirens of War (Capt. Lamont), The Day the Earth Stood Still (Tom), and as a recurring member of the Chowderhouse Gang in The Frank Cyrano Byfar Hour (Howard St. Cabot-Cabot III), part of PMRP's Big Broadcast stage series. James is a Marine infantryman, robotics hobbyist, and systems administrator.

Bob Stroud was the cool prankster in high school, social magnet, mid-20s. Likes to know everybody and likes everybody to know him. Thinks the world owes him favors for all the work he's done. Feels the easy life just within his grasp but can't quite grasp it. A hard worker, boundless energy. Len's partner and voice actor for the After Dark program. He also runs the financial side of the business.

Leslie Drescher (Gwen Somerset) proudly voiced Gwen Somerset. She has had the pleasure of performing in Halloween and summer PMRP productions, includingThe War of the Worlds: The Mob vs. the Martians and the Fall of Boston (Vera Caldwell), The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (Katrina van Tassel), Sorry, Wrong Number (Chief Operator) and The Hound of the Baskervilles (Laura Lyons). She has also appeared in several shows with the affiliated Theatre@First. Long live community theatre!

Gwen Somerset was a naive 21 year-old singer when she met Len. Exhilarated from her company's performance in NYC, yet heading towards her oncoming crash at the prospect of going home again, never to return. Secret smoker, big dreams, small girl, and in active denial of it all. She eventually became Len's long-time on-again, off-again girlfriend/partner. Independent In her early 80's, she speaks slowly, as if each word is pulling a good strip of meat delicately from a bone.

Julia Lunetta (Mr. Oboler) is a professional geek, a semi-professional actor and musician, and an amateur human. She originated the role of The Master Computer in Unreliable Narrator's 2010: Our Hideous Future: The Musical!, which toured local venues from Boston Playwrights' Theatre, Arisia, Oberon, and ImprovBoston, before embarking on a Northeast tour encompassing Salem, MA, Providence, RI, and Brooklyn, NY. Other recent roles include Mavis in FishFace Entertainment's FishNet-NetWorks.Net, and Peggy Putnam (of the Putnam Sisters) in the The Post-Meridian Radio Players' Big Broadcast staged-radio series. She has had the privilege of studying Johnstonian improv at BATS Improv in San Francisco, acting with Fran Weinberg, and voice with John O'Neil.

Mr. Oboler is one of two cats that have made the lighthouse their home. As a former radio horror show host, Len honors one of them by naming it after his famous colleague, Arch Oboler, host and writer of Lights Out!

Kerri Babish (Orson) has been involved with theater in the Somerville, MA area for the past decade. Her major on-stage roles with PMRP's sister organization, Theatre@First, have included Mina Murray in Dracula and Juror #1 in Twelve Angry Jurors, while offstage she has been the stage manager for multiple productions, including The Margaret Ghost and The Rimers of Eldritch. Outside of the theater, Kerri is a sixth-grade teacher in the city of Chelsea. This is her first production with The Post-Meridian Radio Players. She would like to thank Neil and Alicia for this terrific opportunity!

Orson is the second of two cats that have made the lighthouse their home. Len honors this one by naming it after another famous colleague, Orson Welles.

Jenny Gutbezahl (The Mouse) is a carbon-based life form who has been doing theater in the Boston area for about 8 years; most recently originating the role of Woman in The Delicate Art of Customer Service. You can find her on-line as Lois in Unreliable Narrator's The Way of the Warrior-Bunny, and Mrs. Mightoffski in the upcoming pilot for Rhino Crate's Super Life. When not performing, she can be found brewing beer, constructing crossword puzzles, herding winners at the Ig Nobel Awards, or putting together playlists for Mixcloud. Although she doesn't have her own page on Wikipedia, the asteroid named after her does. No. Really. Look it up.

The Mouse is a wise, compassionate Greater Being (Bodhisattva) aware that everyone, Len included, is in great danger and is desperate to warn them.

Brad Smith (Chris Coleman) In addition to his work on The Mask of Inanna, Brad was the tech producer and a principal cast member for the audio theater series Second Shift, where he voiced Jareth and other roles. He has also performed in, and directed, live re-creations of classic radio scripts with The Post Meridian Radio Players, does vocals and percussion with the band Stranger Ways, and has performed in numerous other podcasts, plays, and musicals.

Chris Coleman is an 18 year-old scatterbrained artist. Scottie's boyfriend, whom she isn't allowed to see anymore because she revealed one of the Church's big secrets to him.

Producer Bios

These people are the ones responsible for the creation of The Mask of Inanna. You can blame everything else on them.

Neil Marsh (Creator, Executive Producer) founded The Post Meridian Radio Players in 2005 and served as Managing Director until 2008, when he took on the title of Artistic Director, which he still holds. Neil directed PMRP's premiere production of Arch Oboler's Chicken Heart and since then has directed several other plays, including The Monkey's Paw, The Stone Ship, The War of the Worlds: The Mob vs. the Martians and the Fall of Boston and, most recently, Sorry, Wrong Number. Neil is thrilled at the completion of The Mask of Inanna and its subsequent Parsec Award win. He thanks Alicia profusely for taking his germ of an idea and turning it into something truly amazing.

Alicia E. Goranson (Writer, Director, Post-Production)  Something wrong, good listener? You come here prepared to find an author, and instead you found a GOD?! Alicia Goranson is the reincarnation of Scheherazade, Sei Shōnagon, and all ten Muses. She conquered and deconstructed comic books in her novel Supervillainz—a 2006 Lambda Literary Awards Finalist—and old time radio in her audio drama The Mask of Inanna. She has performed at events, including Saints and Sinners Literary Festival, Cornell University, and LitQuake in San Francisco. Charlie Jane Anders, editor of io9.com, says "Alicia Goranson's superpowers include searing vision, a powerful voice and the ability to leap over genre boundaries."
